Who is Hand + Root?

Hand & Root grew from two lifelong loves: flowers and clay—both learned early, both rooted in family.

I grew up in a rural place where my mother tended flower beds across six acres, marking the seasons with spring daffodils and summer tiger lilies.
As a kid, summers also meant helping my dad in the vegetable garden, watching my parents take six very rough acres and turn them into a home—and a place to grow, both figuratively and literally. That foundation shaped who I am.

Gardening was simply part of life—hands in the dirt, patience learned slowly, beauty never rushed. Those flowers still carry her presence with me today, long after she’s gone, shaping how I approach growing and creating.

My love for pottery began during a few summers spent with my aunt, a ceramic artist and teacher. In her school's studio, I learned that clay doesn’t need to be perfect to be meaningful. It needs time, attention, and a willingness to let your hands figure things out. Years later, I returned to pottery—not as a business at first, but as a creative anchor. A place to make without pressure, to stay curious, and to work slowly.

Hand & Root brings those two worlds together. Cut flowers grown with intention. Pottery shaped by hand. Both imperfect. Both deeply personal. This work is about honoring where things come from—soil, clay, memory—and finding joy in the process as much as the finished piece.

I’m still learning—about clay, about growing flowers, and about creating for the joy of others—with the simple hope of offering one-of-a-kind pieces and moments of happiness: pottery meant to last a lifetime, and flowers meant to be enjoyed right now.

Everything here is made with care, rooted in place, and shaped one small step at a time.
